It is in Vancouver that Dave Demers has, at last, settled. Returning from years of travelling and working on four continents, one mountain, one garden and one museum at the time, Dave fell under the spell of this calm coastal city.
As a precocious gardener, he took over the family vegetable plot before mastering the art of cycling and established the local garden club before ever getting behind the wheel. A diploma in ornamental horticulture, a string of select internships in New York (Stonecrop Gardens and Quaker Hill Native Plant Garden) and Seattle (Heronswood Nursery) as well as in South Africa (Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden) helped lay the foundation of a professional career. Following a term as head of horticulture in a historical garden, Dave tackled with plant-hunting in Mongolia and China, in India and Bhutan, in Chile, Argentina and Guatemala, collecting along the way tons of photos. Strong of such an eclectic baggage, he recently founded CYAN Horticulture.
He has since focused on writing and lecturing, making occasional television appearances, as well as on designing gardens big and small, locally and overseas.
